Abstract :
A Ringing, Tone and Cadence (RTC) System is described which is primarily intended for nonswitched loads in central offices where the subscriber RTC functions are provided by the switcher. The RTC System is arranged in modular form - one host module and five satellites - with each module providing a particular ringing, tone or cadence function. The ringing generator host module is always provided; the satellite modules are provided on an optional basis. The five satellite modules provide Audible Ring Tone, Cadences, Busy Tone, Receiver-Off-Hook (ROH) Tone and +AC-DC for superimposed ringing applications. All outputs, with the exception of the ROH Tone, are duplicated for reliability. Busy and audible ring tones meet the requirements of the "precise tone plan". It is anticipated that minimal telephone company engineering time will be required to adapt the RTC System to a particular office arrangement because distribution fuses, tone splitting resistors and office and remote alarms are provided in the standard arrangement. It should be sufficient simply to select the modules required.
