Abstract :
In this paper, we first model the proposed solutions to electronic serial number (ESN) exhaustion issue. Then we evaluate performance of reusing ESN and using pseudo ESN which are the proposed solutions in code division multiple access (CDMA) system when ESN allocation issue is referred to. System model based on four assumptions is detailed described, and then collision probabilities are analyzed from three different aspects: individual user aspect, certain cell aspect and whole system aspect. During the procedure of modeling and analysis, probability theory is adopted when needed. At last, numerical results are given out which can be used as a guideline for solution of ESN exhaustion problem.
