Abstract :
We developed a set-up based on the fixed analyser technique using coupled 1.31 and 1.55 μm LED´s, an optical spectrum analyser and an automated data processing. So we measured quickly PMD values lower than 0.05 ps. We successfully characterised fibre lengths from 0.5 to 25 km. Five standard single-mode fibres and one dispersion shifted fibre have been measured. The PMD measurement uncertainty is also examined
