Abstract
A hybrid compact isolator is proposed to reduce the electromagnetic coupling between two microstrip patch antennas. This isolator is created by embedding a piece of artificial materials in an open metal box. The obtained results demonstrate that the isolation between two antennas is significantly improved across the matching bandwidth by using this isolator. The maximum improvement of -30 dB is calculated using the simulator compared to the case without isolator. The cross section size of isolator is 17 mm ×11 mm.
