Abstract :
This paper studies the polarization behavior of two similar mutually-coupled VCSELs in a face-to-face configuration. A recent experiment has shown that the system can generate interesting polarization dynamics. When the distance between the VCSELs is short, multiple polarization switchings are observed when varying either the coupling strength, propagation phase, or detuning between the lasers. The mechanisms leading to this polarization behavior is discussed.
