Abstract :
This paper shows the spontaneous formation of cavity solitons in a 120 m diameter, specially designed, optically pumped semiconductor microcavity, as well as patterns with local hexagonal symmetry. This research achieves a high uniformity of the nonlinear medium as brought about by the optical pumping technique and a very small cavity resonance gradient. This is particularly important for the demonstration of cavity soliton motion and for displacement over large distances, which has never yet been observed in semiconductor based systems.
