Abstract :
A delta modulation based speech signal processing method is proposed. Analytical as well as experimental results show that this method can work quite successfully in endpoints detection, pitch extraction and vowel recognition. The statistics on the 384 tested vowels produced by 16 Chinese people with different dialectic representations show that the speaker independent recognition rate based upon the AR model parameter of the DM sequence can be as high as 96.1%
