Abstract :
Wind turbines located in the vicinity of a radar system may affect the system´s detection and tracking capability. A description of adverse effects is given in the paper for both primary and secondary radar. In order to judge the consequence of the shadowed volume cast by a wind turbine, results of radar performance analyses are presented. It is shown that radar performance may be significantly degraded when a low-RCS target deliberately seeks a shaded volume. Suggestions to alleviate the problem are given.
