Abstract :
The author briefly describes the design of the network traffic management system (NTMS) of the AT&T multifunction operations system (MFOS). MFOS provides centralized and integrated operations, administration and maintenance support to telecommunications networks. He then suggests a list of performance issues affecting the acceptability of the NTMS and models and analyzes its performance for a particular application (British Telecom´s Digital Derived Service Network, BT/DDSN). To predict the performance of NTMS he uses both simulation and analytical approaches
