Abstract :
Summary form only given. In physical sciences, “plasma” refers to the forth state of matter, while in medicine and biology plasma is known as the non-cellular fluid component of blood. Interestingly, cold atmospheric pressure plasma jets have attracted the most attention as a promising tool for biomedical applications. Currently, blood coagulation is an important issue of medicine, in particular regarding wound treatment. Quasi thermal plasma has been traditionally used for this application in the form of the so-called cauterization devices. These devices have been widely used in particular in surgery, in which the plasma is just a source of local high temperature heating for cauterization and desiccations of the blood. Recent progresses and developments of the effective non-thermal plasma-medical systems permit achievements in effective blood coagulation without any thermal effects. Hence we have studied the effective blood coagulation by using an air plasma jet with the porous alumina dielectric material included for soft plasma with plasma potential free. An air-plasma jet characteristic has been investigated, which has been ejected out throughout the porous alumina dielectric material, at a low frequency by increasing the applied power and air flow. This design exhibits many advantageous features for the production of a large amount of chemically reactive oxygen atoms and relatively low power consumption in conjunction with a simple design and operation. Also an understanding of mechanisms of blood coagulation has been investigated in this experiment by using the non-thermal soft air plasma jet with a porous alumina dielectric material.
