Abstract
A wide beamwidth circularly polarized microstrip antenna is presented, which is composed of multi-layers and fed through a single coax probe. Proper perturbation is introduced by two truncated corner on the patch to generate a circularly polarized wave. Meanwhile, plated-through pins to the ground, connected by the square ring, are used to realize the wide beamwidth radiation. Finally, an antenna working at Ka band is fabricated and measured as an example, which exhibits half-power beamwidth of 180°and 3 dB axial-ratio beamwidth of 120°.
