Abstract
High-Impedance Surfaces (HIS) are proposed to be employed as a trasponder for Radio Frequency IDentifcation (RFID). The HIS comprises a multi-resonant Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) on top of a grounded thin dielectric slab. The presence of the ground plane is particularly useful to mounting the transponder on top of metallic objects and in general to isolating the electromagnetic response of the resonator from the object where the TAG is placed.
