Abstract :
Sonar and radar systems not only detect targets but also localize them. The process of localization involves bearing and range estimation. In passive sonar systems targets are detected from received acoustic signals emitted by targets. They are localized using time delay obtained from received signals at spatially separated points. Many authors have proposed a host of time delay estimation methods. This proposes a new method named AR parameter bispectrum time delay estimation. The simulation shows that the performance of the present method is superior to that of the other methods in the aspects of resolution and anti-interference
