Abstract :
According to the analysis of the asymptotic optimal codebook of vector quantization (VQ) and the scale factor property of self-organization (SOFM), the authors conclude that SOFM has the potential to construct the asymptotic optimal codebook. Preliminary experiments are presented for verification of the analysis
