Abstract :
Simulated annealing-a powerful technique for solving multidimensional combinatorial optimization problems, is introduced to the optimal sensor array design. A new method of directional pattern optimization is obtained. A special sensor array and its directional pattern optimized by simulated annealing are given. It is shown that the simulated annealing solution to the parameter estimation of the optimal sensor array appears to be a useful tool for array design and processing
