Abstract :
Motion compensation is an essential process for practical block-based video coding schemes. The accuracy of motion estimation is critical for the reconstruction of images. The authors introduce an adaptive motion compensation method for head and shoulder images based on the face locating algorithm. Simulation results show that the algorithm can find the location of the face quickly and correctly. The accuracy of the displacement estimation is improved and the computational requirement is acceptable
