Abstract
The coherent imaging principle of synthetic aperture radar results in speckle noise in the SAR images, seriously reducing the image quality. This paper divides the SAR image into small regions of similar distribution characteristics, and reduce the speckle noise in the different regions. This algorithm has very good speckle reduction rate, while protecting the edge-characteristics of the image. Experiments shows that this algorithm has a better speckle reduction than present methods
