Abstract
Ultrasmall volume (Veff ~ 2(lambda/n)3), fiber-coupled microdisks with embedded quantum dots are studied. Quality factors > 105, laser thresholds of ~ 1 muW, and differential (out-coupling) efficiencies of 16% (28%) are measured, and a spontaneous emission factor of 16% is estimated.
