Abstract
A new family of high power uninterruptible power systems is introduced based upon further developments of the 5th generation step/PWM hybrid static inverter technology. The result is improved efficiency while maintaining the high performance characteristics of PWM technology important to modern data communication requirements. A 250 KW, 313 KVA, 3 phase UPS based on this technology is presented which is very densely packaged for minimum floor space permitting normal doorway passage yet with provision for front only access for all connections and service. The package is designed to U.L. as well as I.E.C. safety standards. Clean lines, built-in diagnostics and simple instrumentation and controls are shown which, together with a high reliability design, are intended to minimize installation and operator difficulties. A universal cabinet and interchangeable parts are directed to greater availability and economy.
