Abstract
In this paper, transient characteristic of a narrowband small antenna is used to develop a multi-band radiating structure. By tuning the antenna with switched capacitors at a proper speed, a multi-band antenna is realized. Furthermore, by using a time-variant tuning configuration, despite the Chu´s fundamental limit that applies to linear time-invariant (LTI) radiators, antenna bandwidth can be significantly increased.
