Abstract :
After first analysing the various obstacles which, in many countries, have hindered telecommunications development in rural areas, the lecturer goes on to present the ALFATEL system ("Alimentation Fiabilisée Adaptée aux Télécommunications", reliable power supply for telecommunications). The original conception of the power source and the introduction of computer assistance allows the ALFATEL system to solve problems encountered in out of the way places: - where there is a lack of energy and where on-site maintenance staff are not available. The ALFATEL system can deliver electrical power under optimum economic conditions, up to 6 kW at 48 V rated output for switching systems and transmission systems. The computer assisted remote control is ensured by a "Videotext" terminal connected to the telecommunications network.
