Abstract
Ground combat vehicles are threatened by a variety of munitions. Many of these munitions overmatch practical armor. Because of this, modern concept of operations (CONOPS) requires hit-avoidance systems. An essential component of any hit-avoidance system is threat warning. The threat-warning component must detect, locate, and identify threats in time to effectively apply countermeasures. In this paper, we present a signal processing chain for a dual band, infra-red (IR), imaging threat warning system that uses low rank processing for clutter suppression. The system presented contains stages to perform frame registration, adaptive clutter suppression, adaptive threat detection, classification, and tracking.
