Abstract :
In the paper a lossless and near-lossless video coding algorithm simple enough for implementing in a real-time system on a chip is presented. Data modeling part of the coder is based on predictor blending idea. Flexibility of this approach allowed for a very simple interframe prediction scheme. Prediction error bias is implemented, and the entropy coder is a highly sophisticated adaptive context arithmetic coder. Experimental results show that indeed, the new method is highly promising, when coding efficiency is taken into consideration.
