Abstract :
Myoclonus, an abrupt spasm of a muscle or muscles, occurs in some neurological diseases and is originated by discharges in the motor cortex. It is based on these discharges that diagnosticians try to discover where the focus is and if it is connected with a functional or structural lesion. Coherence measurements between EEG and EMG are helpful to find such locus. This work presents a methodology to answer if the observed muscular events came from the cerebral cortex and in such case how to identify the discharges source. The main purpose is to establish a topographical mapping that allows visualizing the sources of neuronal discharges responsible for such events. Examples are presented to illustrate the approach efficiency.
