Abstract :
In this communication, a viable design paradigm for the implementation of highly integrated base band receivers for UMTS FDD is elaborated. Special attention is paid to integrated circuits for mobile terminals, i.e. downlink receivers are considered. After presenting important requirements on integrated downlink UMTS FDD receivers, the transmitter and receiver architectures with respect to hardware-software partitioning are discussed in greater detail
