Abstract
It has long been known that electrical systems could interfere with each other´s operation and that naturally occurring phenomena like lightning or Sun spots could effect radio reception and disturb equipment function. In our normal day to day world, we recognise these interference problems as a nuisance normally affecting the reception on our radios or televisions. What we may not realise is that electromagnetic compatibility, or EMC problems are becoming an increasing threat to our modern technological society. In this paper, the author examines the electromagnetic environment in heavy power installations
