Abstract
In order for a good analysis of the spatial distribution of urban heat island, a statistical method based on the linear regression between land surface temperature (LST) and both vegetation cover fraction (VCF) and bright temperature (BT) is developed to downscale LST from low spatial resolution to high spatial resolution. This algorithm is applied to downscaling of the FENGYUN-3A Visible and Infrared Radiometer (FY-3A VIRR) LST to the Landsat TM data. An example of the Beijing area using both the FY-3A VIRR LST and Landsat TM data demonstrates the downscaling accuracy of the algorithm well.
