Abstract :
On the way of ubiquitous computing, now many researchers are working on Wireless Sensor Network for emergency disaster management. But almost all of these works, which can be deployable for disaster management in a hybrid network of cellular and sensor networks, do not consider collapsed or unreachable base stations. After an enormous disaster, in almost every case, some base stations are unreachable due to their destructions or malfunctions. From the experience, the cellular phone could not be used even due to the Nigata earthquake in Japan. In this paper, we present a Wireless Sensor Network Protocol for Disaster Management (WSNPDM) to overcome these deficiencies along with energy efficient clustering technique in terms of long run. Here we update placement of the seed ARSs in cellular network [9] for energy efficiency of deployed sensor networks in cellular system. For justifying this update, we evaluate the performance of our protocol WSNPDM with respect to three types of cell. We also compare its performance with well-known clustering protocol LEACH, where our protocol outperforms this protocol.
