Abstract :
Anti-collision methods are necessary during the presence of numerous transponders in the reading area of a RFID interrogator. Basically, there are two main methods (stochastic and deterministic procedures) to identify each transponder out of a bulk. For UHF transponder according to EPC Class 1 Generation 2 one type of the stochastic ALOHA method is used. The presented simulation shows the advantages and disadvantages of different ALOHA methods and will help to identify meaningful values of the necessary time consumption and reliability. The simulation tool can be used in education lectures to present the different ALOHA principles in general but it can also be used during RFID tutorials to implement and test new anti-collision methods.
