Abstract :
An investigation into the modal fields of a cylindrical dielectric resonator antenna (CDRA) under different forms of metallic perturbations has been presented. It is shown that, properly designed `perturbation´ may help as mode-filter and in reality to control unwanted radiations from a practical antenna. CDRA with metallic perturbation shows broadside radiation with about 6 dBi peak gain and low cross-polarized fields. Promise for achieving over 40 dB isolation between co to cross-polarized fields has been documented.
