Abstract :
Extremely high-Q resonant "whispering-gallery" (WG) modes are found, and their potential for quantum optics applications has recently attracted attention. To achieve tunability and break the high degree of degeneracy found in ideal spheres, shape deformations can be induced either mechanically or directly by fabrication of deformed spheroids.
