Abstract :
Coherent Raman coupling is applied in parallel to ensembles of atoms in two-dimensional arrays of optical micro-potentials created by micro-fabricated lens arrays. For ultracold Rb atoms confined in these optical dipole potentials, the coherent coupling of the hyperfine ground states by stimulated Raman transitions is demonstrated. With Rabi and Ramsey techniques dephasing of the ensemble of atoms is investigated. Applying echo spectroscopy, coherence time of the evolution of the internal states is measured.
