Abstract
This paper proposes a meta-heuristic method for determining the optimal allocation and the output variables of D-FACTS in distribution systems with uncertain wind power generation. The use of wind power generation is introduced into distribution systems as clean and inexhaustive distributed generation. However, it often creates the reverse power flow due to the uncertain output of wind power generation and brings about larger voltage deviations. The power system operators are concerned with the suppression of the uncertain deviation. In this paper, a meta-heuristic method is proposed to deal with the probabilistic voltage assessment in distribution systems with uncertain wind power generation. The Monte-Carlo simulation is introduced into the optimal placement of D-FACTS. Two-layered tabu search of meta-heuristics is proposed to optimize the allocation of D-FACTS. It consists of two layers in which the allocation of D-FACTS is determined at Layer 1 and Tabu Search optimizes the output variables at Layer 2. The proposed method is successfully applied to the sample system.
