Abstract :
A 20KHZ switchmode converter type rectifier will be described. The unit was designed to power a load while charging a positive grounded battery or either 23 or 24 cells. The rectifier operates from nominal 120/240VAC, 47-440HZ. The main power conversion section will be described and design requirements discussed. Performance characteristics will be detailed and analyzed for the unit. The rectifier contains a high frequency fullbridge conversion circuit designed to deliver a minimum 56VDC level at 50 Amps to a standard telecommunications battery/load combination. Design considerations for minimum output noise as well as other standard telecommunication features will be discussed in this paper.
