Abstract
A novel electromagnetic spiral linear step motor is introduced in this paper. The novel motor greatly cuts the materials, labour costs and investment in tooling by two important innovations. One of the innovations is the novel structure of the motor. The other is use of microprocessor control. The principle of operation, the analysis of the thrust for the novel motor are described. The optimum “velocity profile” of the motor can be obtained through the utilization of the “ultrahigh frequency pulses” from microprocessor control. Experimental results verify the theoretical predictions
