Abstract :
The paper presents the development of low cost microprocessor wind energy conversion schemes "WECS" employing the squirrel cage induction generator. Two schemes have been proposed, first on AC/DC scheme which is suitable for heating applications, and the second AC/DC/AC - Asynchronous DC link scheme is suitable for interfacing the wind energy unit to the electric utility grid, hence it lends itself to wind framing and rural energy source applications.
