Abstract :
Synthesis procedures using the methods of hidden-Markov-models are well understood and frequently used in the design of M-ary detectors. However, in some applications there is a supplemental signal that can be used to enhance detection. The structure of detectors that utilize this complementary information is more difficult to determine. This paper presents a hybrid detector that is shown to perform better than the conventional algorithm over a wide range of noise levels.
