  • Abstract
The above document relates to uninterruptable power supplies, generally through motor converters. Initially the electrical supply networks are characterized and the operating characteristics of critical consumers illustrated. These are used to then derive the requirements imposed upon uninterruptable power supplies and various solutions with static and rotary converters are discussed. The latest development in the field of rotary converters, the UNIBLOCK converter, is presented. The characteristics of this machine and the UPS systems it is used in are illustrated. A reliability calculation is carried out for two typical circuits and is dicussed.
