Abstract :
The total number and the storage time of Ba ions trapped in an rf ion trap were determined under various pressures of buffer gas. It was found that addition of any kind of buffer gas in the ion trap enlarged the total number but that of light gas was effective in lengthening the storage time of Ba ions.
