Abstract :
Advances in technology has affected not only engineering fields, but various interdisciplinary fields including performing art. Because a performance requires a lot of cost and time even for a rehearsal, simulating a scene by using the visualization method is one of the most vigorous topics in the area of performing art. This study introduces StageViz, a stage visualization tool based on real-time 3D virtual environment. Unlike other visualization tools, StageViz interoperates with the performance authoring tool, and therefore the virtual scene created from StageViz can be directly applied to a real performance scene. We generated a rehearsal scene based on a real scene and applied the scene data to the performance authoring tool. As a result, StageViz showed promise in estimating the visual appearance of the real scene, and it also showed potential reduction of cost and time for performance.
