Abstract
The required number of channels for neural stimulation is increasing; while in vitro arrays reached more than 10000 sites, implantable systems, e.g. for retinal or cortical stimulation, have not exceeded above 1600 which was achieved with a reduction to basic functionality and wireline control of rectangular stimulation pulses.
