Abstract :
This paper is concerned with the developments and trends in telecommunication systems over the past few years. It discusses the development of a generic model that can be applied to communications architectures and how switching has become a major aspect of all wide area and local area networking methodologies. It goes on to show the use of transputer links and associated routing devices in various applications and what benefits can be gained through the use of this technology
