Reduced order modelling of gas turbine engines

Abstract :
Modelling plays an important role in the development of new gas turbine engines. Dynamic models are required to design the engine control laws and are then used in real time to test the performance of the engine control system. Initially, the engine dynamics are derived from the thermodynamic characteristics of the engine components. However, these types of model are designed for accurate steady-state prediction of the engine performance and their dynamic characteristics are not always sufficiently accurate. It is therefore necessary to validate the dynamic behaviour of the model by an identification experiment on a real engine
