Abstract :
An OTST-ESPRIT algorithm is proposed to estimate jointly the direction of arrival (DOA) and the propagation delay of multipath signals in mobile wireless communication networks. In the new method, only a one step eigenvalue decomposition (EVD) is needed to estimate delays or DOAs. The method uses temporal-ESPRIT (T-ESPRIT) based on a one step EVD (OT-ESPRIT algorithm) to estimate delays and spatial-ESPRIT (S-ESPRIT) based on one step EVD (OS-ESPRIT algorithm) to estimate DOAs.. Compared with previous work, the new approach calls for low computational complexity, but it exhibits superior performance, such as higher precision and better robustness to signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) change. It is applicable to a lower SNR scenario. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
