Abstract :
A complete 24 VDC, 50 A power plant for telecommunication applications is described which fits in 10¿ inches (6 rack positions) in a 19 inch relay rack. Among the meter, alarm and control functions provided are a switch selectable digital meter to monitor battery and load voltage and current, a low voltage disconnect control, and a battery charging control to protect the gel cell batteries. Up to three 25A power supply modules can be plugged into the system for full redundancy at a 50A 1 oad, The power supplies incorporate a 200 kHz switching technology for minimum size and high efficiency. The parameters of the power module, the power system and design philosophy as well as the reliability of the system will be described.
