Abstract :
The doubly salient permanent magnet (DSPM) machine with full-pitched windings has the advantages such as high power density and high reliability, which has the potential in the applications of wind power generation. There are different ways to improve the full pitched DSPM machine for high performance. Then three topologies of the full pitched DSPM generator are proposed in this paper. The structure of each topology is discussed and the characteristics are analyzed by FEA. It is shown that the full pitched DSPM generator with rare-earth permanent magnet (PM) may be the best topology which own highest efficiency and medium cost. The generator topology with ferrite PM has the potential to the low cost applications.
