Abstract
The research on the definition and measurement approaches of reactive power considering the influence of harmonics has become popular. In this paper, according to reactive power defined by Budeanu, a novel method based on ANF (adaptive notch filter) for the digital measurement of the single-phase reactive power in the presence of harmonics is presented. Compared with the well-established techniques such as FFT, the proposed method offers higher degree of accuracy, simple algorithm and frequency-adaptivity. The structural simplicity of the method renders it suitable for both software and hardware implementations. Based on simulation studies, performance of the method is presented and its accuracy and immunity to the frequency variations are compared with a FFT-based method.
