Abstract
With large wind farms connecting to the grid by VSC-HVDC, many urgent problems should be solved, such as power system reliability assessment and available transfer capability(ATC) assessment, which have important academic and practical significances to transmission system planning, operation and reliability evaluation. Considering the characteristics of wind farm and VSC-HVDC system, the ATC assessment of power system with large wind farms connecting by VSC-HVDC is studied based on Monte Carlo simulation, DC power flow and Linear-programming in this paper. Through long-time simulation and analyses, the adequacy indices of ATC can be gained. The algorithm is developed by MATLAB 6.5. The IEEE-RTS79 test system is used to verify the presented approach.
