Abstract :
IEEE 802.12 has initiated projects to develop gigabit per second LANs initially as higher speed backbones for the 100 Mb/s systems. This paper describes the status of the IEEE 802.12 gigabit per second LAN. The author considers demand priority, cascaded demand priority networks, scalability, higher speed repeater and switched based networks and higher speed IEEE 802.12 physical layers
