Abstract
The simulation of stepped controlled shunt reactor was proposed in the paper which can suppress over-voltages of high voltage transmission line in various situations flexibly, Electromechanical and electro-magnetic transient hybrid simulation analysis of northwest grid transient stability in use of stepped controlled shunt reactor was conducted as well as the technical features. Computer simulation results used in practical operation parameters confirmed the above advantages and effectiveness of stepped controlled shunt reactor. It´s effective and practical, which opens a new way to the voltage control and reactive power regulation of ultra high voltage transmission line.
